Yes, I would say allow the player to hire mercs to defend it but its always up in the air with some corps where a solid PVE + mercs backing it up would be more beneficial to the EVE player. POCOs have reinforcement timers. Just like PC districts. And for the same purpose. But first you have to bring down shields by 75%.

When your Customs Office's shields fall below 99% you will get a notification so that you can defend it When your Customs Office enters reinforced mode you will get a notification that includes who put it in reinforced and when it will exit reinforcement mode
Destroying Customs Offices
In the Crucible expansion, players can destroy Custom Offices in Low-sec, Null-sec and Wormhole space. Should a Customs Office be destroyed, then a kill mail will be sent to the owner and party laying the final blow. Corporations can edit re-enforcement timers in order to ensure that any Customs Offices that are under siege can be defended at the time of their choosing.

Since November 19th, coming with EVE Online Rubicon expansions, players will be able to destroy and build their own COs in high-sec space.
POCOs are orbiting around planets. Each planet is divided into districts. Some districts can be owned via PC already. Every district have a command center (or "default" place for producing/storing clones). To export clones a district has to have a launchpad. I can see no reason why not use it to launch a dust mercs boarding parties onto the CO in orbit to destroy it and build their own.
It seems POCOs can't be taken over. One has to destroy POCO first and build a new one. There can be only one POCO for each planet. And mercs can be used to make destroying of a POCO faster or slower.
But first you should own at least one district on that planet. To use a launchpad. |
